Web and mobile from one codebase
Some products need a website that ranks in search and an app in the stores, with the same features in both. HighratedHotels is such a product. This is the setup AppJoy used.

The setup
- A Yarn monorepo with an Expo app (React Native) for iOS and Android and a Next.js app with the App Router for the website.
- A shared package holds features, components, services and state. Solito connects navigation between both worlds.
- NativeWind brings Tailwind CSS styling to React Native, Zustand and TanStack Query handle state and server data.
- Payload CMS on MongoDB lets the marketing team manage content, and Stripe handles payments.
Why this approach
- The website is server-rendered, so hotel pages can be indexed by search engines, which a pure app cannot offer.
- Most of the code is written once and runs on all three targets.
- One TypeScript codebase means one team can work on web and app.
When to choose something else
