Digital Construction Log
A construction log records daily progress on the job site: personnel and equipment used, materials, weather conditions, as well as special incidents or deviations. It is legally required, provides transparency for clients and authorities, and significantly reduces liability risks.
The construction company Grifas from Darmstadt, supported by AppJoy, has developed a fully digital construction log. The app enables every foreman to complete the daily documentation quickly, efficiently, and accurately. Thanks to a guided, intelligent form, missing information is avoided—improving the quality and completeness of the documentation while reducing the time required.
Depending on your needs, the system can be flexibly connected to various data sources — from simple Google Sheets to powerful relational databases with extensive functionality.
AppJoy was responsible for the entire technical implementation — from setting up the infrastructure to developing the backend, integrating external interfaces, and building the mobile app.
The precise requirements were first defined within the AppJoy platform, taking into account both the client’s needs and all relevant legal requirements. A prototype consisting solely of the form was created, translated, and provided to the company’s employees for user testing.
In the MVP phase, the results of the user tests were evaluated, and the form was further optimized for clarity, including improved translations. In addition, an interface to Google Sheets was implemented, where all construction diary entries are stored.
Furthermore, a feature was added to the CMS that allows administrators to manage important announcements, which are displayed to foremen directly in the app dashboard.
